Age Well East is delighted to have been awarded £8,500 by the Elise Pilkington Trust to directly maintain the delivery of essential advice and welfare support to people in later years across North East Essex. The generous grant will make a huge difference and have a positive impact on the daily lives of people in later years. As Advice and Welfare Manager, Martin Jones explains ‘The impacts of Covid19 and growing costs of living are far reaching. This vital funding will enable our trained Advisers to support vulnerable people across our community to access benefits and pensions , grants, and other forms of help to meet basic daily living needs. We will also assist with accessing home adaptations and other aids to support independent living at home; empowering choice and independence. Our work also enables people to remain connected with their communities through assistance with digital services and support to claim blue badge disability parking badges which are essential for independent travel.’
We work holistically, enabling us not only to advise and support, but to also connect people with other forms of assistance through befriending and emotional support services. With empathy and understanding, we help people to articulate their individual needs and provide validation and acknowledgement of their circumstances as one client explained the difference it meant to her, “I was able to talk openly to someone about my worries and struggles. Very soon, I was getting support I didn’t know was available. This has been a lifeline for me.”
“Thank you to everyone at the Elise Pilkington Trust for helping us to provide this invaluable service.”
