Funds committed to vital Global Farriery project by long term supporter The Elise Pilkington Charitable Trust
‘Long term Brooke supporters (over 20 years!) The Elise Pilkington Charitable Trust have generously agreed to provide a two-year investment into our essential Global Farriery project.
The latest £40,000 donation will make a huge difference over a two year period, helping Brooke to transform the Farriery trade in low and middle income countries, where lameness is one of the most common welfare problems observed amongst working equine animals. In a recent Brooke study in Pakistan and India 100% of 200 working equines inspected were found to suffer from a level of lameness.
In many countries Farriery is an unrecognised, unregulated industry, with a lack of training and locally available farriery resources such as suitable tools and nails. Brooke’s vision is for farriery to become a recognised, respected and regulated profession worldwide. This will lead to measurable improvements in animal welfare, whilst positively impacting equine-owning communities.’
