Brendoncare Clubs was very delighted to receive a grant of £10,000 from the Elise Pilkington Charitable Trust. We are very thankful to the Trustees for this very generous gift. It will go towards refurbishing Gosport hub, a vibrant and supportive community space for Gosport older people since 2002.
Every week, over 200 local older people of all abilities come to this hub to join in activities such as Zumba, Tai-Chi, kurling, cinema, and singing. However, in the past few years, the hub’s premises had deteriorated. As a result of this, the support and sense of community that local older people get in this hub was put at risk.
The generous grant from the Elise Pilkington Charitable Trust will help to overturn this. It will contribute to renovating Gosport hub into a safe and welcoming community space for local older people to meet new friends, share their experiences with others, get involved in exciting activities, and/or give back to the community.
We are extremely grateful for the Elise Pilkington Charitable Trust’s support. The rich activities, clubs, and support that will continue to be available at Gosport hub really help to make many older people feel that they belong and that they matter. And this is important for their mental health wellbeing as well as their physical health.
